IDFC First Bank pays Rs 645 crore, settles Chandigarh fraud claims

IDFC First Bank said it has paid Rs 55 crore more than its initial estimate of Rs 590 crore.


IDFC First Bank on Tuesday said it has paid Rs 645 crore to ‌settle claims related to a suspected fraud ⁠involving accounts of entities at its Chandigarh branch in ‌Haryana.

The private lender said it has paid Rs 55 crore more than its initial estimate of Rs 590 crore.

The updated claims are for the same incident and no new material claims have emerged.

The mid-sized lender said it has completed reconciliation of all relevant accounts at its Chandigarh branch and had found no further discrepancies.

"There are no other pending claims," the bank stated, adding that no fresh claims have been received from any entity across the country since 25 February 2026.

IDFC First Bank expects growth in deposits and loans broadly in line ‌with past trends.
